But Never, No Never To Stay

The sun on its throne

From dawn it has grown

Rules o'er the earth with its light

It climbs at midday

Then to darkness gives way

But never, no never to stay

A laugh cuts the air

Your friends are all there

A smile is stuck on your face

Yet to your dismay

They end up away

But never, no never to stay

Summer lingers for a season

And is gone for good reason

Though I cannot claim to know why

In the meantime it's gray

It will return in May

But never, no never to stay

Your heart is content

Your love is well spent

Her heart beats in tandem with yours

Her affection gave sway

And for now with you lay

But never, no never to stay

But do not despair Nor count it unfair

When love departs or summer ends

Cherish what is today

When good comes your way

But never, no never to stay
